The duo has performed at The Green Mill in Chicago, Spectrum in NYC, The Center for New Music in San Francisco, as well as the Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, and other diverse venues such as the video game and indie music festival Rockage 4.0.

The duo of percussionist Christopher G. Many of A/B Duo’s commissions can be heard on their album, "Variety Show" on the Aerocade Music label, and on their 2013 EP, "Things We Dream About."

Center for New Music, San Francisco

A/B Duo presents "Ricochet" at the Center for New Music.

We are excited to play at the Center for New Music again. Last time we were there, the Civic Center Blog said that our concert was "one of the most charming concerts imaginable… The music was bouncy, strange, interesting and fun. The A/B Duo is worth seeking out…"

This time, we will premiere new works for contrabass flute and percussion by Andrea La Rose and Ned McGowan.

Excerpt of "Ricochet" for contrabass flute and percussion (2014) by Ned McGowan. Recorded June 9, 2014 at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Official world premiere on October 11, 2014 in San Francisco.

This concert is made possible through the Musical Grant Program, which is administered by the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, and supported by the Heller Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation and Grants for the Arts|San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund.

NYC Spectrum

A/B Duo concert at Spectrum in NYC!  (2nd night, different set!)

Tickets: $15/$10

The A/B Duo will present some of their newly commissioned works and more at Spectrum.  The program will include Limb by Drew Baker, which the Chicago Classical Review described as “the most compelling music. At just 8-1/2 minutes, Baker distills a striking atmosphere of concentrated mystery with the shimmering of the gongs set against the lowing of the imposing contrabass flute and, later, piercing high piccolo notes.” Works by Carolyn O’Brien, Zack Browning, Ian Dicke and Steven Snowden will also round out the program of compositions written in 2012 and 2013.

Program:

Sol Moon Rocker for flute and vibraphone by Zack Browning

Nocturne for contrabass flute and djembe by Carolyn O’Brien

Long Distance for percussion and electronics by Steven Snowden

Isla for flute, vibraphone and live electronics by Ian Dicke

Limb for flute and percussion by Drew Baker
